About Amber

As a Dedicated Gluten-Free Baker, Amber Tipton, Owner was in culinary school when she and her daughter Emily received a celiac disease diagnosis. Having one pastry class left in school was the best scenario for learning this diagnosis, having the opportunity to explore the future of baking. Amber was able to research flour blends, test recipes, and learn how to apply classic baking techniques in order to achieve an excellent gluten-free product.

In March 2013, Amber began baking for friends and family to practice and upon graduation began selling her goods at a local farmers market where the business has continued to grow and meet the allergy needs of the celiac and gluten intolerant community. Since moving into the incubator space in Fairborn the menu has expanded to accommodate diary-free, corn-free, soy-free, egg-free, and vegan dietary needs.Since launching the Neighborhood Nest bakery, Amber and her team are committed to creating the most inclusive environment for those with food allergies and sensitivities possible. Our team is motivated by doing the right thing and making our customer’s days. At Neighborhood Nest, we sit together for a team meeting weekly to discuss customer feedback, team member workload, opportunities, strengths, weaknesses, process/procedure improvement and sit down to explore new ingredients to create a better product.

"The Neighborhood Nest is a gamechanger for anyone who needs to eat GF. First of all, the cinnamon rolls are something you dream about. Cinnamon rolls were never atop my list of baked goods, but these are incredible. The texture is perfect, which can be difficult to do with GF alternatives. They freeze well so don't hesitate getting a dozen -- you will regret it if you don't. The Portuguese bread is my favorite GF bread I've tried. It toasts well and doesn't crumble when you cut it. It is lightly sweet but tastes amazing toasted with butter -- something definitely not true of most GF breads. My favorite thing I've tried so far is the oatmeal cream filled cookies. You need two hands to eat these and they are the perfect combination of chewy, sweet, and a tiny bit salty. I'm a chocolate lover but would choose these over a piece of chocolate any day. You will never eat the mass produced ones again. Amber is so helpful and accommodating and clearly passionate about her customers and her products. She has made me enjoy eating GF baked goods for the first time in my life and truly has given me back the enjoyment of some of my favorite foods... I'm so thankful to have found this place!"
